How to Eat and Drink Local During the COVID-19 Shutdown

March 20, 2020 By Annie Meadows

If you are starting to go a little stir crazy and are looking for food and drinks during the Coronavirus shutdown, our friends at Raleigh Weekend have put together a great list of local places that are offering curbside takeout and delivery! As you know, Downtown Raleigh is my home and the hospitality industry is taking a big hit right now. If you can, order your food from local establishments to help them at this time when they need it most. I have listed a few of my favorites from the list and what they are doing below but you can read them all here.

Where to Get Wine and Food Delivery and Pickup

The Raleigh Wine Shop: Being stuck inside for days on end requires wine and lots of it. 😉Raleigh Wine Shop is offering curbside pickup – just call ahead or email them with an order and they will have it ready to run out to their loading zone right in front of the shop. Local delivery is available and they have reduced their delivery fee – including free delivery to downtown residents – with a six-bottle minimum purchase. As always, they are offering their regular 10% discount on any six bottles and 15% off on 12+ bottles for those of you that are stocking up. I recommend the Sir Walt’s Six Pack for a quick way to grab six bottles of wine at 20% off.

Lonerider Brewing: Don’t worry beer drinks, I did not forget about you. My teammate Ryan Boone’s favorite, Lonerider will continue to operate a to-go service at each location from noon until 7 p.m. You can visit their store online and place your orders for six packs, 12 packs, and growlers. For each $10 transaction, they will donate $1 to the Bartender Emergency Assistance Program. For service industry members they will also be providing a 50% discount to their full order.

Mulino Italian Kitchen and Bar: While their dining room is closed, they will be open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily for pickup and deliveries. They are offering their regular menu, family-style meals, and of course, wine, to go. Just place your order online and head to the restaurant to pick it up. If you cannot afford food at this moment, they will not charge you. Just ask!

Stay safe out there and as always, I am just a phone call away at 919-961-3277.
