Did you know January 25, 2022, is “plan for a vacation day?” One of the things I love about living in Raleigh is there are so many places to vacation that are just a few hours away! Below, I dive into some of my favorite spots. As always, if you are thinking about making a move to the Triangle or need vacation recs, I am your girl! Beech Mountain
Ok, ok, I may be a little biased because Hunky Hubby and I recently purchased a vacation home with some friends at Beech Mountain, but you really can’t go wrong when you are planning a trip to the beautiful North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. Skiing, tubing, snowboarding, hiking, or just relaxing—there is something for everyone.
Pinehurst
Pinehurst is about an hour away and a good time for the whole family! This area is known as the “home of American golf” but you do not have to be a golfer to enjoy Pinehurst. The entire area is beautifully landscaped and filled with relaxing and fun things to do.
Wilmington & The Surrounding Beaches
When the sound and sand is calling your name, head down to Wilmington, North Carolina which is located on the Atlantic coast, along the Cape Fear River. The city is known as the gateway to the Cape Fear Beaches, including Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach. Whether you want to soak up the sun or enjoy all of the beach town dining and shopping, this will be a getaway to remember.
Asheboro
Asheboro is home to the North Carolina Zoo and a very easy day trip to make from Raleigh! The North Carolina Zoo is nestled on 2,600 wooded acres centrally located in the heart of North Carolina. With 500 developed acres, it is the world’s largest natural habitat zoo and one of two state-supported zoos. Learn more and purchase tickets at NCZoo.org.
These are just four of my favorite places to visit but there are so many more. I recommend checking out This is Raleigh’s list of eight fun day trips that are under two hours away from Raleigh. Happy vacationing!
