The eagles have landed! According to Walter Magazine, photographer Bob Karp spotted a pair of bald eagles nesting at Shelley Lake Park earlier this month. Paparazzi everywhere have been trying to get photos of Raleigh’s most popular couple 😉 and if you are trying to grab a snapshot, you do not have much more time! The City of Raleigh reports that the eagles have been active at the nest since February 2022, and will likely move on by mid-May 2022.
The City of Raleigh is doing all they can to protect the nest and have limited grounds maintenance in the area. However, the trail remains open so you can stop by to see them! Check out more photos at WalterMagazine.com.
Celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 22, 2022
If you are like me—when you see something like this—you really start thinking about the beauty of nature and how you can invest in the environment. On Friday, April 22, 2022, Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources is hosting an Earth Day celebration event at Flowers Field to celebrate our planet and the many ways the City of Raleigh, city partners, and community invest in our planet all year long. There will be information booths, activities, and food trucks from 6 until 8 p.m. Guests are invited to come to play field games, ride a balance bike through a challenge course, touch a truck, grab a bite to eat, learn about pollinators, discover ways to get involved, pick up seed giveaways, and more! This is a great way to celebrate Earth Day and learn more about how you can get involved right here in Raleigh. Happy Earth Day!
