Ireland in the Sunshine: Our Summer Travel Adventure

August 27, 2026 By Annie Meadows

Pack your bags, friends—we’re taking another quick break from Raleigh real estate to talk travel!

While Rick took you through our unforgettable Alaskan cruise, I get to share the second half of our summer travel adventures: Ireland! And let me tell you, we struck total gold with the weather across the pond. It hardly rained at all because they were experiencing an unbelievable heat wave with blue skies and sunshine the entire time.

Naturally, everywhere we went, I made sure to keep my trusty Annie Meadows real estate koozie close by to keep my drinks icy cold!

We captured so many amazing memories that I had to give our Irish getaway its own photo diary. Here are a few favorite spots, photos, and highlights from our time exploring Dublin, Galway, and more.

Laughing Our Way Through Dublin & The House of Guinness

During our time in Dublin, a visit to the historic Guinness Storehouse was an absolute must. We spent hours exploring, but honestly, their clever marketing throughout the tour had us laughing the whole time—the Irish sense of humor is truly unmatched!

  • Galway
  • Galway

Galway’s Heritage: Live Music, Hospitality

While in Galway, we met this joyful young woman in traditional Irish dress. A symbol of the lively spirit, warm hospitality, and rich folklore of the city (and yes, the inspiration behind the famous Irish song), Galway Girl sits in front of The Quays Bar, one of the city’s most historic establishments.

Originating in the 13th century when part of the premises served as a banqueting hall, the bar was purchased by Louis Fitzgerald in 1991. Today, it’s renowned across Ireland for live music—especially in its famous Music Hall, which has hosted TG4’s Glór Tíre for years. The historic charm and music inside were incredible!

Galway

Traditional Craftsmanship in Galway

While in Galway, we also visited the workshop of one of the original goldsmiths behind the traditional Claddagh ring. The Claddagh design—with its hands, heart, and crown symbolizing friendship, love, and loyalty—is world-famous, but seeing where these pieces are handcrafted right at the source was such a neat piece of local culture.

The Breathtaking Cliffs of Moher

You simply cannot visit Ireland without standing at the edge of the Cliffs of Moher. Getting to see these massive cliffs rising out of the ocean under bright, sunny skies was pure magic. Pictures barely do the scale justice!

Island Life on Inis Oírr

We also took a boat over to Inis Oírr, the smallest of the Aran Islands. Only about 300 people live on the island year-round, giving it such a peaceful, authentic feel. Walking along the stone-walled lanes looking out at the clear water was an unforgettable experience.

Good to Be Back Home

Between cruising through Alaska and soaking up the rare Irish sunshine, it was truly a summer of memories. But as much as we love exploring new places, there is no feeling quite like coming home to the Triangle.

We’re back, recharged, and ready for a busy fall real estate market! If you’re thinking about making a move this season—or just want to swap travel stories—give Rick or me a call anytime.

(And if you spotted my koozie in the photos and want one of your own, shoot me a text at 919-961-3277—I’d be happy to save one for you!)
