Hole-in-One Golf Course Communities Around the Triangle ⛳️

August 1, 2025 By Rick Meadows

If your dream is to hit the driving range whenever you desire or look out your window to a lush green fairway, you may want to consider moving to one of the Triangle’s many great golf course communities. As a golfer myself, it definitely sounds like a dream come true to me! Course designers such as Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicholas have created courses right here in our own backyard, with charming homes and sought-after lifestyles only adding to the appeal.

Not a golfer? These neighborhoods have a plethora of additional amenities to take advantage of, including pools, clubhouses, tennis courts, social events, and so much more. In honor of National Golf Month this August, we’re highlighting some of the amazing golf course communities the area has to offer.

Brier Creek Country Club | Raleigh

Brier Creek Country Club

Brier Creek Country Club’s relaxed, private atmosphere and buzzing neighborhood is one-of-a-kind. It combines personalized service, delicious cuisine, and exciting activities to please all—no matter what you like to do in your free time. The 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Course is a popular choice among residents and visitors to the area. The community also offers racquet sports like tennis and pickleball, exercise classes, a pool and splash zone, on-site restaurant Deke’s Tavern and Table (named after Palmer’s father!) and several clubs for members (think book club, bridge, mahjong, gardening, Stitch & Chat, and more).

Carolina Country Club + Country Club Hills | Raleigh

Carolina Country Club

Surrounding the exclusive Carolina Country Club is Country Club Hills, an established neighborhood with homes dating back to the 1950s, as well as new custom estates—all of which boast breathtaking views of the holes and lakes. The golf course itself is a recognized five-star Platinum Club, with additional first-class social activities like tennis, wellness, youth programs, aquatics, and food and beverage service.

North Ridge Country Club | Raleigh

North Ridge Country Club

Opened in 1968, North Ridge boasts a historical dedication to its roots, what with the original 18 holes designed by George Cobb in 1967 located on the Oaks Course—in addition to the more modern 18-hole Lakes Course. Both have hosted multiple CGA championships. In addition to golf, amenities include tennis, pickleball, a fitness center, and a resort-style swimming pool complete with the Cabana 67 Bar and Grill. Meanwhile, the surrounding neighborhood features townhomes, single-family homes, and estates in a variety of styles, from traditional to contemporary to ranch-style.

Governors Club | Chapel Hill

Governors Club

This premier, nationally recognized name is home to one of the best golf courses in the country, a thoughtfully designed 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Championship Golf Course with varied terrain satisfying golfers of all skill levels across three distinct nine-hole courses. The fully-gated golf community is a marvel in and of itself, comprising beautifully designed homes with distinct features attracting all types of homeowners. The 1,600-acre property also features walking trails, a large outdoor pool and fully equipped wellness center, and kids’ and adults’ clubs.

MacGregor Downs Country Club | Cary

MacGregor Downs Country Club

“Where lifestyle and luxury meet,” MacGregor Downs was established in 1967 and its 18-hole Willard Byrd-designed private golf course is annually rated as one of the best in the Southeastern United States. The likes of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Lee Trevino have even walked its fairways! Members and residents of its townhouses and custom homes can also take advantage of tasty food offerings at the clubhouse’s three Scottish-inspired dining rooms, Junior-Olympic and kiddie pools, tennis and pickleball, and more.

Prestonwood Country Club | Cary

Prestonwood Country Club

Since 1988, Prestonwood has served nearly 1,800 member families. 54 holes of championship golf—made up of three 18-hole courses designed by golf course architect Tom Jackson—feature both bentgrass and Champion bermudagrass greens, making for ideal conditions year-round. It’s also been rated one of the top 100 courses in North Carolina by the NC Golf Panel! When you’re not hitting the links, take part in tennis, aquatics, group fitness classes, and delicious dining.

Devils Ridge Golf Club + Sunset Ridge | Holly Springs

Devils Ridge Country Club

Sunset Ridge—which refers to three large neighborhoods: Sunset Ridge, Sunset Ridge North, and Sunset Oaks—was one of Holly Springs’ first planned communities. Its community members have access to Devils Ridge Golf Club, which offers challenging rolling fairways lined with towering hardwoods, plus a putting green, chipping green, and driving range. Members and residents can also enjoy a plantation-style clubhouse complete with delicious chef-led dining.

12 Oaks | Holly Springs

12 Oaks

The sprawling 12 Oaks neighborhood features a variety of modern homes of various shapes and sizes in a warm and welcoming family-friendly community. The defining Jack Nicklaus-designed, 7,132-plus-yard course is a challenge for golfers of all skill levels—and beautiful too, thanks to smooth fairways, wetland vegetation, and water features. The Club at 12 Oaks also boasts outstanding amenities like a clubhouse with casual and gourmet dining, tennis and pickleball courts, a fitness center, and three swimming complexes—plus various activities for adults and children, including monthly events.

The Hasentree Club | Wake Forest

Hanstree

Hasentree prides itself on offering a resort-style community “where every day is like vacationing at home,” thanks to its peaceful setting and luxury home styles. The stunning and satisfying Tom Fazio-designed golf course features a 7,074-yard, par-71 layout that golf lovers of all skill levels can enjoy, while additional amenities include tennis courts; fitness classes; three pools, including a six-lane, 25-yard competition pool; on-site restuaurant, the Oak, and its bar, Tavern at Oak; and “clubs within a club” like book club, artists club, garden club, and mahjong.

These Golf Course Communities Are Par for the Course

As you can see here, there are a whole lot of attractive qualities that come with living at a golf course community. Whether you’re hoping to hit the links every day, spend endless hours swimming laps, relax in the clubhouse, or take part in the many engaging activities, golf course living has it all.
