If you’ve been following along, you know I usually use this space to spotlight one of my favorite local spots around Raleigh. But with spring break around the corner, I thought I’d mix things up this month.

Sweet Annie and I recently checked a big one off the bucket list—celebrating her birthday in St. Lucia—and I just had to share. Don’t worry, next month we’ll be back to highlighting local favorites. But even if travel isn’t on your calendar right now, I hope you’ll enjoy this little digital getaway.
First Things First: The Planning

Suiter patiently guided us through all things St. Lucia—from narrowing down resort options to helping us map out logistics. We’ll absolutely be working with her again and highly recommend her if you’re planning something special.

Cap Maison Resort & Spa—Boutique, Beautiful, and Built for Foodies
Cap Maison is a smaller boutique resort with just 49 rooms—and that intimate feel made all the difference.
Our room had:
- A spacious living area
- A huge bedroom and bath
- Three decks
- And a private rooftop pool
It couldn’t have been nicer.
You can choose between all-inclusive or à la carte dining, and we opted for all-inclusive—which was 100% the right move. Cap Maison has a well-earned reputation as a foodie resort, and they delivered. No buffets here. Everything is ordered off a menu and prepared fresh.
The fresh seafood stole the show—ceviche, seafood chowder, and daily catches were easily 10 out of 10.
A Little Relaxation… and a Little Adventure
While Annie enjoyed a birthday spa day at the resort, I tackled a bucket list of my own—Cabot Point Hardy Golf Course.
Holy moly. The views alone are worth the trip. Built around a dramatic point of the island, nearly every hole feels like it belongs on a postcard.
And speaking of adventure—we had one before we even arrived.
The St. Lucia airport is on the southern tip of the island, while Cap Maison is in the north. Most visitors choose either a two-hour drive over winding roads or a 90-minute ferry ride…
We chose option three: a 20-minute helicopter ride.
Flying over the rainforest and seeing the famous Pitons from above? Absolutely unforgettable—and again, big thanks to Suiter for helping us pull that off seamlessly.
The Real Highlight
Yes, there are waterfalls, hiking trails, sulfur springs, and endless excursions on the island.
But honestly? We spent most of our time eating incredible food and relaxing under the sun—and it was exactly what we needed.
Final Thoughts
If St. Lucia has been on your list, consider this your sign. Cap Maison—and Suiter Currin’s thoughtful planning—made it extra special. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend both the resort and Suiter to help you get there.
